Clear Plastic Pots and Other Supplies
Why use clear pot? Well, the first thing I noticed, that roots, especially Phalaenopsis roots, tended to stay inside the pot, not crawl outside and into the next plant. It was easy to see if they needed re watering, the most common problem with orchids. Also, it is easy to check the condition of the roots and the condition of the media.
The old pots I used were imported and worked well, but fell apart in a year or two in the tropical Hawaiian conditions. As with all orchid fanciers, I began to bring in plants from different nurseries for my own collection. Some came in a new clear plastic pot, new ones made in America. These lasted and lasted. I was sold....my good plants began to go into these pots. Good pots, made in the USA and built to last. Reusable, wash with soap and water then soak in a 10% bleach solution for 10-15 minutes, rinse and reuse. They'll last for years with the UV inhibitors in the plastic. Thicker walls and lip for long use.
