Phal. modesta 'coerulea' x Self. This is an extremely new item. I have never personally seen a "blue" modesta, but have seen the picture. This was purchased from Jia Ho Orchids who also provided the picture. This is completely new to me and cannot say if it will breed true 'coeruleas'. This species produces 1-1 1/2" "magnificently fragrant" flowers, the flowers produced sequentially on a short stem. The name modesta refers to the short stem that rarely passes the leaf tips. The mother plant has creamy white petals and sepals, the lateral sepals suffused with a violet blue.
