Blc. Lois McNeil 'Ace' (Blc. Victoria 'Blue Bird' x C. Portiata 'Coerulea') is a medium large "blue" with great form and an easy, very vigorous grower. This plant is ideal for specimen culture, quickly forming multiple leads. Color is good; medium blue segments with a darker blue lip with a bit of yellow in the throat. Stems hold up to 5 flowers per stem. This plant usually forms 2 sucessive growths and they bloom simultaneously in the fall. This plant is about 1/2 C. labiata and 1/3 C. bowringiana and they tend to dominate the blooming habit of this plant. The B. digbyana lends some broadening to the lip and the L. tenebrosa deepens the color. One of the nicer Hawaiian blues. I expect these plants to bloom in 1-2 years, starting in the fall of 2007.
